A Bonfire That Ignited The Spirit of Love and Happiness- Lohri Celebrations at SWATI PAG

Amidst the chilling winds and low temperatures, a team of committed volunteers from CRY organized Lohri celebrations for the children at SWATI, a CRY supported project.
The celebration, that is the remembrance of the Sun deity, was an evening full of enjoyment and activities and some really appetizing food, that was witnessed by more than a hundred children and their parents.

The evening commenced with a bonfire around which everyone sat and played antakshari (sing along), imbibing the spirit of Lohri.
This vibe was further energized by a special dance performance by the children, that was choreographed by a young and passionate volunteer, Muskan, with whom all the children love to dance.
The performance was so full of energy and so well-choreographed that it left the audience in awe!

The awesomeness of the evening did not end there; the bhaiyas and the didis at SWATI had a special dance prepared for the children, which was a surprise to all present, and by the end of which all the children were up on the stage dancing and singing along with all the volunteers.

It was then that the smell of freshly made food filled the air and the children got excited for what was to come!
Small packets filled with traditional Lohri food- popcorn and peanuts and revri, was handed out to everyone present and you could see the smiles on the children’s faces, that had bloated cheeks as they went about stuffing their mouths with food.

The evening of fun and frolic came to a close with this. It felt like there was happiness all around and every child was enjoying it to the fullest. All that could be seen were children dancing and singing and smiling and having a great time enjoying the festivities of Lohri.
Celebrations like these not only help bring people together but also help spread the message of hope and love, which we at CRY, stand for.
