Dental Health Camp- Healthy Habits for Happy Smiles

“A child’s smile is like rainbows and sunshine, packaged with a ribbon on top.”
To make the smiles of our little ones eternal, we, at CRY, organized a series of dental health camps kickstarting from our PAG at SWATI.

The day began with great enthusiasm, at Swati, as the children slowly gathered in the projects's compound to satisfy their curiosity and witness the event unfold.

The event started with a talk on dental hygiene by Priyanka (a paediatric dental health expert), who joined hands with CRY to spearhead the campaign, teaching children about hygienic dental practices, particularly emphasizing on teeth and gum illnesses and measures to prevent them. This was followed by something that caught everybody’s interest- A free Dental Screening!

Patient Cards were handed out to all the children present there, providing a summary of the oral health of the child and areas of improvement.
The event was a hit with the children and their parents as around 72 children attended the campaign through the day long dental health camp at the PAG.

"Awareness regarding oral hygiene needs to be imparted in every child at an early age to prevent the problems which can have ramifications for them in the future." said Priyanka.

This oral health camp also became a platform where children were given exposure to meet experienced professionals who could answer all queries that they had in their minds. Parents were made mindful about the importance and necessity of regular dental checkups.

The spirit of the counselors and our volunteers was astounding. They were not just familiar and certain while passing on the message, but great in influencing the children to hear them out.
The event culminated by informing the children about proper brushing techniques and healthy diet intake which can prevent tooth decay. The children were motivated to practice good dental hygiene, positive conduct and to carry forward this knowledge into adulthood.
It was overwhelming to see our little one’s enthusiasm for learning hygienic dental habits and its implementation in their day-to-day lives.

As Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has rightly said “Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.” The Dental Health Program promises to contribute to this noble cause and empower the lives of many children through continuous efforts of the CRY volunteers.
