International Volunteer Day 2018: An Afternoon to Celebrate the Spirit of Giving and Sharing

It is the people that form the backbone of any organization. With CRY, the role of every person becomes even more special because CRY believes that every person counts.
To uphold the spirit of gratitude, CRY celebrated its annual International Volunteers Day in Delhi on 7th January ’18 to thank their volunteers from North India for being the work-force that they are. The event catered specially to all the volunteers across Delhi-NCR and other parts of North India where everyone came together to interact and know the face behind every small and big success that CRY has seen over the past one year.
The theme for the afternoon, as highlighted by a team member, was ‘We are, because you are.’ Rightly so, the purpose of the gathering was to ensure that the efforts of each and every volunteer do not go unnoticed and they know that their contributions have been like God’s own helping hand to CRY.

The fun-filled afternoon started off with a spring of photos at the custom-made CRY photo booth. Every smile, laughter and memory was captured showing the bouts of energy that the volunteers bring with them. After a hearty lunch and a cake, the team of CRY awarded all of its volunteers and ensured that their efforts did not go unnoticed by thanking them with a token of appreciation.
As pointed out by a team member, this event was quite special because of the variety of people present. Volunteers came in from various parts of Delhi-NCR, Rourkee, Kashmir, and Bhopal. The diversity was not just restricted to demographics as we saw volunteers from different age groups being a part of the team. The 9.5 year old girl was one of the most enthusiastic volunteers and inspired quite a few who attended.

It can be seen that when it comes to a child and his or her rights, there are no barriers of any kind. The aim is to create a shift in the knowledge and attitude towards child rights among the volunteers. The team of CRY has successfully been able to send across the message that no effort is big or small. As long as a volunteer can contribute in the capacity he or she finds the most suitable, the sky is the only limit then.
A parallel between CRY and its volunteers can be drawn here. As the permanent team of CRY continues to work in an official capacity towards the development of child rights, and ensuring that the world of a young heart is shaped beautifully, its volunteers not only do the same for the children but also for the team of CRY itself. They work long hours to ensure that the core team of CRY has the support they need and deserve to achieve the noble goal in the world.

International Volunteers Day is truly a celebration of unity in diversity and a special token of gratitude. However, they all come together to share the same dream of bringing a smile to the face of every child and a ray of hope in the heart of every young soul.
