Connecting Children to Nature- A CRY Initiative on World Environment Day
The World Environment
Day was celebrated around the theme of Connecting People to Nature at the
edifice of United Nations on 5th June 2017. We at CRY also participated to the
cause and endeavored a strong message to bring about a change and exhibit
our love for nature. Through the gracious efforts of our volunteers Charvi, Anita and Mehak at the Gurugram
PAG, the children learnt the necessity of conserving the environment by
indulging in creative activities of sapling plantation and pot decoration across
a two day event.
It is said that any
type of consciousness raising activity has merits. The World Environment Day
celebration was no different. It sought to bring about awareness and
understanding of the environmental issues and problems that are faced today.
For this, it was critical to possess the information and understanding of how we
could help.
On the first day, the
children, under the supervision of the volunteers,
undertook pot decoration and sapling plantation activities. These
self-assessments exercises featured a new paradigm in enhancing the mental
vigor of the children associated for this cause.
Concluding the
event, on day two, a group poster making activity was conducted and
supervised by the volunteers. They left no stone un-turned in
teaching an important lesson of conservation, and children were also told about
the various issues related to the environment.
CRY has always been a front runner in the overall development of children. Celebrating the World Environment
Day is instrumental not only with the purpose of spreading awareness among
these children, but also, the world.
The efforts and intent
displayed by these kids clearly showed how precarious the situation of our
current environment is. And by such efforts only, would we be able to bring
these issues to the consciousness of the people all around the world and help
preserve our Earth.
