English Classes @ Dakshinpuri

The Dakshinpuri PAG commenced the English language classes on 2nd April, 2015. The students undergoing these set of classes, who ranged from 4th – 10th standard, were divided into two groups depending on their pre-existing command on the language.

In the introductory session, the two groups of students and the volunteers were introduced with each other. The students demonstrated their strength in the uppercase and lowercase alphabets. After this, a word - antakshari game was played wherein the students and the volunteers sat in one big circle. Each participant, upon the arrival of their turn had to come up with a 3 or a 4 letter word, which had to begin with the letter that was the last alphabet of the word spoken by the predecessor.
The session was quite productive as it helped the students build their vocabulary and fight the fear of speaking in public.

Each one of the volunteers has been given a comprehensive and a thoroughly researched module in English language, comprising of 20 sessions, which the volunteers are expected to familiarize themselves with. The module, developed by interns at CRY, is to be executed over a period of approximately 6 months and broadly covers the following topics – English, listening, reading, writing.
